Faculty Consultations

I consult with faculty on research-based teaching strategies, course design, and incorporating technology in ways that will improve student experiences and outcomes. I work with faculty to identify discipline-specific student engagement strategies, identify and implement technologies that will aid student learning, and find ways to incorporate equitable assessments in the classroom.

In 2020 I held more than 200 faculty consultations (both individually and in groups for departments, schools, and colleges) to assist in the transition to remote teaching. Additionally, I have consulted with both the Student Engagement Network and the Office of Student Activities to create online modules that assist students in their co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Faculty Feedback

Erica Fleming is a rockstar! Erica is the Lead on my Faculty Fellows project. Since we first met at the start of the fall semester, Erica has tackled this project with such enthusiasm and intensity it is amazing!  She has a unique ability to reach into my ideas with no structure and pull out something with structure, in a way that is almost indescribable.  My project has been slow in its development, but it’s been a rich process that has created a synergy within our team that would be enviable if our secret got out! She leads our team with organization and kindness and a levelness that makes all of us want to run through a brick wall for her!

“I just wanted to thank you for all the time you spent with me last summer! I haven’t embedded a Quiz in Kaltura since last summer.  But, with all the help that you had given me, & the copious notes that I took… I just successfully embedded 7 quiz questions throughout a pre-recorded lecture and successfully got the video to the proper course channel.”

“Erica Fleming is FANTASTIC. She brings enthusiasm, patience, innovation, and kindness. It was important to me that I wouldn’t feel ashamed if my lack of skills, and Erica never once made me feel embarrassed. We incorporated online peer review, discussion forums, and user-friendly course modules into my canvas site.”
